EPL: Maresca banned for Chelsea vs Aston Villa clash

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will not be on the touchline when his side faces Aston Villa in their next Premier League fixture. The Italian coach has been handed a one-match ban after picking up his third yellow card of the season during Chelsea’s recent game against Newcastle United.

Maresca was booked in the 2-2 draw at St James’ Park after showing strong reactions toward match officials. Referee Andy Madley cautioned the Chelsea boss around the hour mark, ruling that his protests crossed the acceptable limit. The booking automatically triggered a suspension under league rules.

Despite the drama on the sidelines, Chelsea showed character on the pitch. The Blues recovered from a two-goal deficit, with Reece James and Joao Pedro scoring to cancel out a first-half brace from Newcastle’s Nick Woltemade and secure a valuable away point.

Maresca will now watch the Aston Villa match from the stands while his coaching staff takes charge from the bench. Chelsea will hope his absence does not affect their momentum as they continue their push for a strong finish in the Premier League.
