The internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a new turn after officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC held a crucial meeting with representatives of the rival factions loyal to Nyesom Wike and Bala Mohammed. The meeting was aimed at addressing leadership disputes that have continued to affect the party’s stability.
Sources said the INEC meeting focused on compliance with electoral guidelines, party constitution, and the recognition of legitimate party officers. Both factions reportedly presented their positions, with INEC insisting that only actions backed by the PDP constitution and court rulings would be acknowledged.
INEC officials were said to have warned that continued internal conflicts could weaken the party’s chances in future elections. The commission stressed the need for unity, proper documentation, and adherence to laid-down rules to avoid confusion in party administration and candidate nominations.
The development has raised fresh concerns among PDP members, as many fear the crisis could deepen if a lasting solution is not reached. Party stakeholders are now calling for dialogue and compromise to prevent further damage ahead of upcoming political activities.
