No amount of books can erase Buhari’s painful legacy – Mahdi Shehu

Political analyst Mahdi Shehu has stated that no amount of books or writings can erase the perceived painful legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Shehu highlighted that the policies and decisions during Buhari’s administration left deep impacts on Nigeria’s political and economic landscape.

He emphasized that while literature can preserve history or offer perspectives, it cannot undo the challenges Nigerians faced under Buhari’s rule. According to Shehu, the effects of certain policy choices, especially in the economy and governance, remain visible and continue to affect the nation.

Shehu also noted that political leaders must be held accountable for their actions, and history should remember both achievements and failures. Efforts to rewrite or downplay the past, he argued, would not change the lived experiences of the citizens.

He concluded by urging Nigerians to critically analyze past administrations and ensure future leadership prioritizes transparency, development, and the welfare of the people over political rhetoric or image management.
