Residents of parts of Osun State are living in fear following a deadly attack by suspected bandits that claimed the life of a community leader and led to the abduction of a former customs officer. The incident reportedly happened during a late-night raid, throwing the affected area into panic.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the community, shot the local leader at close range, and forcefully took away the retired customs officer to an unknown location. The sudden violence has left residents shocked, with many now afraid to move around freely, especially at night.
Security agencies have confirmed the attack and said efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators. According to officials, joint security teams have been deployed to the area, while intelligence-led operations are being intensified to rescue the abducted victim and restore calm.
Community members have called on the Osun State government to strengthen security in rural areas. They appealed for increased patrols and quicker response to security threats, warning that continued attacks could further disrupt daily life and economic activities in the state.
