Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed reports claiming he has endorsed a candidate for the 2027 presidential election. He described such claims as false and misleading, stressing that he has not declared support for anyone ahead of the polls.

El-Rufai explained that discussions about 2027 are still premature and should not distract from governance and national development. He said his current focus is on contributing ideas that can help Nigeria grow, rather than backing any individual for future elections.

According to him, attempts to link his name to endorsements are often driven by political speculation. He urged the public to rely on verified statements and not assumptions or rumours circulating on social media and political platforms.

The former governor also called on political actors to allow internal party processes and democratic principles to guide candidate selection when the time comes. He added that Nigeria’s progress should remain the top priority for leaders at all levels.
