The United States has imposed sanctions on several Colombian nationals accused of supporting atrocities committed by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The move aims to hold foreign actors accountable for their involvement in human rights violations in the region.
According to the US Treasury, these individuals provided training, equipment, or financial support to RSF fighters, contributing to violence against civilians. Officials stated that the sanctions will freeze any assets in US jurisdictions and restrict financial transactions with these individuals.
Human rights organizations have welcomed the sanctions, calling them a step toward justice for victims in Sudan. They emphasized the need for continued international pressure to curb foreign involvement in the conflict.
Sudanese authorities and international observers continue to monitor the situation, urging other nations to prevent further escalation and ensure accountability for those fueling violence.
