A leadership expert, Olajomi-Otubu, has encouraged graduating students of the University of Ibadan (UI) to see the institution as more than a place of learning. Speaking to the Class of 2025, she described UI as a “launchpad for greatness,” saying that the skills and experiences gained there can help them build successful futures. She stressed that graduates must step into the world with confidence and a sense of purpose.
She reminded the students that education alone does not guarantee success; their determination, creativity, and resilience will shape their journey. According to her, the world is changing fast, and employers are now looking for problem-solvers and innovators. She advised the graduates to remain adaptable, open-minded, and willing to learn new things as they move into the next phase of life.
Olajomi-Otubu also urged the students to make good use of the networks and relationships they built during their years in UI. She said many opportunities in life come from people rather than books, and graduates must stay connected to helpful mentors, colleagues, and friends. She added that UI’s strong alumni network can open doors for them if they use it wisely.
She concluded by telling the Class of 2025 to dream boldly and not let fear limit them. In her words, UI has already given them the foundation they need; now it is up to them to build on it. She encouraged them to embrace challenges, stay focused on their goals, and carry the spirit of excellence that the university is known for.
