Police arrest 67-yr-old suspect in Delta, recover two pump-action guns

Police officers in Delta State have arrested a 67-year-old man after recovering two pump-action guns from his residence. The arrest followed a security intelligence tip, which led officers to the suspect’s home where the weapons were discovered. Authorities say the elderly suspect is now in custody and undergoing questioning.

According to police sources, the guns were found during a targeted search operation aimed at reducing illegal arms in the state. The police noted that the operation is part of their ongoing effort to curb rising crime and enforce stricter gun control laws. The suspect reportedly failed to provide valid documents for the firearms.

Residents in the area expressed surprise at the arrest, saying the man was well known in the community. Some noted that they had no prior knowledge of him possessing weapons. The police assured the public that the investigation will reveal the true purpose of the guns and whether the suspect has links to any criminal activities.

The Delta State Police Command reiterated its commitment to fighting crime and removing illegal weapons from circulation. They also encouraged citizens to report suspicious behaviour, emphasizing that community cooperation is key to building a safer environment. More details are expected as the investigation progresses.
