Invest at Home – Dangote Urges Entrepreneurs, Says Nigeria Is Like a ‘Scratch Card’

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has called on Nigerian entrepreneurs to focus their investments at home instead of rushing abroad. Speaking at a business event, he described Nigeria as a “scratch card,” meaning the country’s real value only appears when people put in effort to unlock opportunities. He explained that many nations that Nigerians run to today were built by their own citizens, not outsiders.

Dangote noted that Nigeria has huge potential in manufacturing, agriculture, technology and energy. He said young business owners should be bold enough to build companies that can grow into global brands. According to him, success comes faster when people invest in their own environment rather than waiting for foreign countries to open doors for them.

He also stressed that challenges such as poor infrastructure, high costs and insecurity should not discourage investors. Dangote argued that every country has its own problems, but true entrepreneurs rise above obstacles and create solutions. He added that government policies are improving and more opportunities will appear for those who stay committed.

Entrepreneurs and young professionals who attended the event praised Dangote’s message. Many agreed that Nigeria holds hidden opportunities that can become big successes if properly explored. They urged government and financial institutions to support local businesses so that more citizens can invest and build strong companies at home.
