Lawyer Idam has raised concerns over Nigeria’s recent ambassadorial list, warning that the selections could lead to serious international consequences. He said the appointments may affect the country’s diplomatic relationships and undermine its global image if not carefully scrutinized.
Idam stressed that sending the wrong candidates abroad could result in strained ties with other nations and may hinder Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives. He urged the National Assembly and relevant authorities to carefully examine each nominee to prevent potential diplomatic embarrassment.
He further emphasized the need for qualified and experienced individuals to represent Nigeria overseas. According to him, diplomacy requires competence, integrity, and a clear understanding of international relations to protect the nation’s interests.
The lawyer concluded by warning that any hasty or politically motivated appointments could backfire, causing long-term damage to Nigeria’s reputation and reducing its influence in global affairs.
