Nnamdi Kanu now celebrity in Sokoto prison, Justice Omotosho will beg him – Sowore

Activist Omoyele Sowore has claimed that detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu is being treated like a celebrity inside the Sokoto prison. According to Sowore, Kanu has gained massive attention among inmates and even prison officials, who now allegedly see him as a high-profile figure. He said the environment around Kanu in detention is far different from what many imagine, as he receives unusual recognition and respect.

Sowore further stated that the situation inside the prison has given Kanu more influence than expected. He suggested that the federal government’s decision to move him to Sokoto has backfired because it has boosted his popularity instead of weakening his movement. Sowore argued that Kanu’s presence in the prison is creating conversations that favour him and strengthen his public image.

He also took a swipe at Justice Omotosho, the judge handling Kanu’s case, claiming that the judge would eventually have no choice but to “beg Kanu.” According to Sowore, the legal process is shifting in a direction that may force authorities to soften their stance. He said Kanu’s growing support and resilience are becoming impossible for the system to ignore.

Sowore used the moment to call for Kanu’s unconditional release, insisting that Nigeria needs justice-driven leadership to end the cycle of political persecution. He added that transparency, fairness, and dialogue—not intimidation—are the only ways to find lasting solutions to agitations across the country. He urged the government to rethink its approach and embrace peaceful engagement.
