2027: Opposition not ready  - Dele Momodu

Media personality and PDP chieftain, Dele Momodu, has said that opposition parties are not yet prepared for the 2027 general elections. He explained that despite the challenges Nigerians are facing, the opposition has not built the unity, structure, or strategy needed to challenge the ruling party. According to him, winning an election goes beyond criticism—it requires solid teamwork and nationwide coordination.

Momodu stated that many opposition groups are working separately instead of forming a united front, which weakens their chances. He noted that personal ambitions, internal crises, and lack of clear direction are some of the issues slowing down progress. For him, unless the opposition quickly fixes these problems, the ruling party will enter the 2027 race with a strong advantage.

He further advised key figures in the opposition to put the interest of Nigerians above personal goals. Momodu emphasized the need for early planning, strong communication, and genuine collaboration if they hope to compete meaningfully. He added that ordinary citizens want a credible alternative, but the current level of preparation from opposition parties is not encouraging.

Political observers say Momodu’s comments reflect concerns shared by many Nigerians who want a stronger democratic balance. They believe that without a united opposition, elections may become predictable, reducing meaningful competition. Many now wonder whether the opposition can reorganize and build enough strength before the next major election cycle begins.
