Over 1,500 PDP members defect to APC in Kebbi

Kebbi State witnessed a major political shift as over 1,500 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The mass defection happened during a large rally where the new members announced their decision to join the ruling party. Many of them said they were motivated by the developmental projects and leadership style of the APC-led government in the state.

Leaders of the defecting group explained that they were leaving the PDP because they felt the party had failed to provide strong direction and internal unity. They added that the APC seemed more capable of addressing their communities’ needs. The new members vowed to work hard to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.

APC officials in Kebbi warmly welcomed the newcomers, describing the event as proof that the party continues to grow stronger across the state. They assured the defectors of equal opportunities and encouraged them to contribute actively to party activities. The leadership also promised to continue delivering programmes that benefit ordinary citizens.

Political analysts say the mass movement could have a significant impact on Kebbi’s political landscape, especially as elections draw closer. They noted that large defections like this can boost a party’s grassroots strength while weakening the other. Many residents are now watching closely to see how both parties respond to the new political dynamics.
