Court remands man for alleged housebreaking, theft of N22.5m gadgets

A magistrate court has ordered the remand of a man accused of breaking into a house and stealing electronic gadgets worth N22.5 million. According to the police, the suspect allegedly entered the residence without permission and took various expensive devices before he was tracked down and arrested.

During the court session, the prosecutor explained that the items stolen included high-value electronics such as laptops, phones, and other gadgets. He added that the suspect could not give a reasonable explanation for the stolen items, which strengthened the case against him.

The magistrate ruled that the offence was serious and required further investigation. As a result, the suspect was remanded in prison custody while the police continue to gather more evidence and prepare the case for trial. The court also fixed a date for further hearing.

The incident has raised concerns about increasing housebreaking and theft cases in the area. Residents have been urged to improve their home security and remain vigilant as authorities work to reduce burglary-related crimes.
