AFCON 2025: CAF organises preparation course for referees

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has organised a preparation course for referees ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The training is aimed at equipping referees with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure smooth officiating during the tournament. CAF emphasized the importance of fair play and accurate decision-making on the field.

The course brings together top referees from across Africa to undergo intensive training, including updates on the latest rules, match management techniques, and video assistant referee (VAR) protocols. Experts will guide participants through practical exercises and simulations to improve their performance during high-stakes matches.

CAF officials highlighted that the training is part of ongoing efforts to maintain high refereeing standards in African football. They expressed confidence that well-prepared referees would enhance the quality of matches and contribute to a successful AFCON 2025 tournament.

Participants have expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, noting that such training will help them handle pressure situations better and make precise decisions on the field. CAF encouraged referees to take the lessons seriously and apply them in upcoming national and continental competitions.
