My father regretted funding my education after I became skit maker – Sabinus

Popular comedian and skit maker, Sabinus, has revealed that his father once regretted paying for his university education because he chose comedy as a career. According to him, his dad initially believed that pursuing skit making was a waste of his academic training. Sabinus shared this during a recent interview where he spoke about the struggles entertainers face at the beginning of their careers.

He explained that his father expected him to get a traditional job after school, possibly in a corporate setting. However, choosing content creation instead made his father feel disappointed. Sabinus noted that many Nigerian parents misunderstand creative careers, especially when they don’t immediately bring financial success.

But over time, things changed. Sabinus said his father became proud of him after seeing how far he had come through comedy. His achievements, awards, and growing popularity made his father realise that talent-based careers can also be rewarding. He added that the support eventually helped him push harder in the industry.

Sabinus encouraged young people to stay focused on their dreams, even when their families don’t initially support their choices. He stressed that passion and consistency can turn any career path into success. Today, his journey stands as an example that creative skills can build a stable and respected profession.
