Not in our portfolio — Dangote Refinery reacts as Europe shuns diesel over substandard specs

The Dangote Refinery has dismissed claims linking it to diesel shipments recently rejected in parts of Europe over quality concerns. The company clarified that the diesel involved in the international dispute did not originate from its facility and does not represent any product in its portfolio. According to the refinery, all fuels produced from its plant meet strict global standards.

A spokesperson for the refinery explained that Dangote operates under internationally certified procedures, ensuring that every product released to the market passes through rigorous quality checks. The company stressed that it has no involvement in the questionable diesel consignment and remains committed to supplying high-grade, compliant fuels.

The refinery further highlighted that its operations are guided by safety, environmental responsibility, and adherence to global best practices. It added that misinformation linking Dangote to rejected diesel shipments is misleading and damaging. The company urged the public to rely on verified information and not assumptions.

Industry observers say the quick clarification was necessary to protect the refinery’s reputation, especially as it positions itself as a major supplier of cleaner, high-standard fuels across Africa and beyond. They believe the statement reinforces Dangote’s commitment to quality and transparency as it works toward full-scale operations.
