US Congressman Barry Moore has issued a strong warning to the Nigerian government, saying it will be held responsible if anything happens to Rev. Timothy Dachomo, a Nigerian cleric reportedly facing threats. Moore expressed concern over rising insecurity and alleged targeted attacks on Christian leaders in parts of the country.
He explained that the situation surrounding Rev. Dachomo has drawn international attention. According to Moore, the safety of religious leaders must be guaranteed by any government that values human rights. He noted that the US is closely watching developments and expects Nigeria to protect its citizens without discrimination.
The congressman urged Nigerian authorities to immediately ensure Rev. Dachomo’s safety and investigate the threats against him. He added that no one should be harassed or harmed because of their beliefs. Moore also stated that Nigeria must strengthen its response to security challenges affecting vulnerable groups.
He further encouraged peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, stressing that global partners are willing to support efforts that promote safety and religious freedom. Moore said protecting Rev. Dachomo would send a positive signal about Nigeria’s commitment to justice and human rights.
