Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has raised concerns over rising violence in the state, warning political actors to refrain from actions that could escalate tension. He said that violence will not be tolerated and that those who engage in it will face strict consequences under the law.
To enforce this, Governor Adeleke announced the establishment of mobile courts across the state. These courts will handle cases related to political violence, public disturbances, and other criminal activities promptly, ensuring that offenders are swiftly brought to justice. He explained that this measure aims to restore peace and prevent further unrest during political activities.
The governor emphasized that all politicians must act responsibly, especially during campaigns and rallies, and that citizens’ safety is a top priority. He warned that anyone found instigating or participating in violent acts would be held accountable, no matter their status or position.
Community leaders and civil society groups have welcomed the initiative, calling it a proactive step to maintain law and order. They urged political actors to respect the law and use peaceful means to resolve disputes, while praising the mobile courts for their potential to deliver quick justice and deter crime.
