Military hands over 24 rescued Kebbi schoolgirls to Governor Idris

The Nigerian military has officially handed over 24 rescued schoolgirls from Kebbi State to Governor Nasir Idris. The girls were part of those kidnapped during a recent attack on a school, which sparked nationwide concern. After security forces intensified their search, the victims were safely recovered and transported to the state capital for proper care and documentation.

Governor Idris, while receiving the children, expressed deep gratitude to the military and other security agencies. He praised their efforts and said the rescue operation showed the government’s commitment to protecting citizens, especially children. He also noted that the rescued girls would receive medical checkups, counselling, and support to help them recover from the traumatic experience.

Parents and community members gathered to welcome the girls, with many thanking God and the security forces for their safe return. Some families revealed the emotional difficulty they faced during the period of uncertainty. The state government assured residents that all necessary steps would be taken to strengthen school security and prevent future attacks.

The military promised to continue operations to rescue any remaining victims and dismantle the criminal networks responsible for the kidnappings. Governor Idris also called for unity and cooperation, urging citizens to share information that can help security agencies. He said the rescue should serve as a reminder that together, Nigerians can overcome insecurity.
