Nnamdi Kanu: Ndigbo sentenced to life imprisonment in Nigeria – MASSOB

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has condemned the life sentence handed to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, saying the judgement is not just against one man but against the entire Igbo people. The group described the ruling as a clear sign of injustice and political oppression targeted at the South-East.

According to MASSOB, the conviction shows that the Nigerian government is determined to silence the Igbo voice. They argued that instead of exploring dialogue and peaceful negotiations, the system continues to rely on force and intimidation. The group insisted that the judgement reflects deep-rooted bias within the country’s political and judicial structure.

MASSOB also called on international bodies to pay attention to what they described as long-standing marginalisation and harsh treatment of the region. They warned that decisions like this only widen the gap between the government and the people, increasing anger and distrust in the South-East.

They concluded by saying that the struggle for justice and fairness will continue despite the court ruling. According to them, Nnamdi Kanu’s sentencing has strengthened the resolve of Igbo activists who believe that true freedom can only come when the rights of the region are respected.
