Osogbo-Iwo Road: Police deny herdsmen attack after motorists escaped jungle justice

The Osun State Police Command has dismissed claims that herdsmen attacked motorists on the Osogbo-Iwo Road. The clarification came after some reports suggested that travelers were attacked and narrowly escaped jungle justice while on the highway.

Police spokesperson, CSP Funmi Odunlami, stated that preliminary investigations revealed no evidence of any herdsmen assault. She explained that the rumors might have stemmed from road traffic congestion and misunderstandings among travelers.

According to Odunlami, security operatives have increased patrols on the Osogbo-Iwo Road to ensure the safety of motorists and maintain law and order. She emphasized that the public should avoid spreading unverified information that can cause panic.

Some motorists had reportedly claimed they were targeted while traveling through the area, but the police clarified that no official complaint or evidence had been received to confirm an attack. The statement aims to reassure the public about the safety of the highway.

Authorities urged all road users to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities directly to law enforcement agencies. The police reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and property along all major roads in Osun State.
