They aim to destabilise Nigeria – Northern CAN condemns Kwara church attack, General’s killing

The Northern Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has strongly condemned the recent attack on a church in Kwara State and the killing of a military general. The group said the incidents were clear attempts by enemies of peace to destabilise Nigeria and create fear among citizens. According to Northern CAN, these attacks are targeted acts meant to divide communities and weaken national unity.

In a statement, the group described the assault on the church as a direct provocation and an attack on religious freedom. They insisted that no Nigerian should be afraid to worship, regardless of their faith. Northern CAN urged the security agencies to speed up investigations and ensure that those behind the violence face justice. They also encouraged residents not to panic, assuring them that peace will prevail.

Northern CAN also linked the killing of the general to the growing insecurity across the country. They expressed concern that criminals are becoming bolder, attacking both civilians and senior officials. The association warned that if such acts are not stopped quickly, they could embolden more extremist groups to strike again.

The group called on the Federal Government to take these incidents seriously and strengthen security across the region. They further urged Nigerians to unite, remain vigilant, and refuse to be divided by those trying to cause chaos. Northern CAN stated that only collective action and strong leadership can defeat those who want to destabilise the country.
