PDP expels Wike, Fayose, Anyanwu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled three prominent figures—Nyesom Wike, Ayo Fayose, and Samuel Anyanwu—over alleged anti-party activities. According to party officials, the decision followed months of internal disagreements and repeated warnings to the affected leaders. The PDP said their actions undermined the unity and progress of the party, leaving it with no choice but to remove them.

The expulsion marks one of the biggest internal shake-ups in the party’s recent history. Wike and Fayose, both former governors, have been major players in national politics, while Anyanwu previously served as the party’s national secretary. Their removal is expected to further deepen existing divisions within the PDP.

Party insiders say the move is aimed at rebuilding the party ahead of major elections, though critics argue it may worsen tensions instead of resolving them. Supporters of the expelled leaders have already expressed anger, accusing the PDP of selective punishment and political witch-hunting.

Political observers believe the expulsions will reshape power dynamics within the PDP and may push the affected politicians toward alternative alliances. The development also raises new questions about the future direction of the opposition party.
