Ondo Speaker blames impeachment plot on lawmakers’ grievance with Governor Aiyedatiwa

The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly has attributed the recent impeachment move to growing dissatisfaction among lawmakers toward Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. According to him, the tensions did not arise overnight but were fueled by unresolved grievances and concerns over the governor’s leadership style. He explained that several legislators felt sidelined, claiming the governor failed to address their complaints and expectations.

He further noted that the impeachment attempt was not a personal attack, but a reflection of the lawmakers’ frustration with governance issues in the state. The Speaker insisted that the Assembly must protect its integrity and act whenever members believe the executive arm is not carrying them along.

However, he emphasized that dialogue is still possible and that the crisis could be resolved if Governor Aiyedatiwa takes steps to rebuild trust with the legislators. He added that mutual respect and cooperation remain key to stable governance in Ondo State.

The Speaker called for calm among residents, assuring that the Assembly will handle the matter within the law and in the best interest of the state. He urged political actors to avoid escalating the situation further.
