Oluwo warns of looming Osun–Oyo land clash, seeks urgent action

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has raised alarm over a potential land dispute between communities in Osun and Oyo States. He urged state authorities and relevant stakeholders to take immediate action to prevent a possible escalation that could threaten peace in the region.

Oba Akanbi noted that tensions over land boundaries have been simmering for some time, and without prompt intervention, the situation could spiral into violence. He called on both communities to exercise restraint and respect traditional conflict resolution mechanisms.

“Land disagreements are sensitive, and if not addressed properly, they can escalate quickly. We must act now to avoid bloodshed and maintain harmony between Osun and Oyo communities,” the Oluwo said.

The traditional ruler also appealed to the state governments and security agencies to engage with local leaders and mediate a lasting solution. He emphasized the importance of dialogue, peacebuilding, and legal clarity in resolving boundary disputes.
