Six senior directors from the Ministry of Defence have reportedly been kidnapped, and their captors are demanding a ransom of N150 million for their release. The officials were abducted while traveling, raising new concerns about rising insecurity even among top government personnel.
According to reports, the kidnappers contacted the families and insisted that the ransom must be paid before the victims would be freed. The situation has created fear and tension within the ministry as workers worry about their safety.
Security agencies have begun investigations, but there is no official confirmation yet on whether the ransom will be paid. However, insiders say the families and colleagues of the abducted directors are deeply worried as the kidnappers are said to be issuing threats.
The incident has renewed conversations about the worsening kidnapping crisis in Nigeria. Many citizens argue that if high-ranking government officials can be abducted so easily, ordinary people are even more vulnerable. They are calling on the Federal Government to take stronger action to tackle insecurity.
Until now, there has been no public statement from the Ministry of Defence about the abduction, but pressure is mounting on authorities to act fast to rescue the directors safely and prevent similar incidents in the future.
