EFCC hands over N104m recovered fund to Niger govt

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has returned the sum of ₦104 million to the Niger State Government.

The anti-graft agency confirmed the handover in a statement issued on Thursday, saying the funds were recovered during investigations into financial irregularities involving former government officials in the state.

According to the EFCC, the money was handed over to the Niger State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Nasara Danmallam, at the commission’s headquarters. The recovered amount represents part of the public funds illegally diverted by some individuals under the previous administration.

Speaking during the handover, the EFCC Zonal Commander for Ilorin, Michael Nzekwe, said the commission would continue to ensure that stolen government resources are recovered and returned to the rightful owners.

He also assured that the EFCC remains committed to transparency and accountability, urging government officials at all levels to resist corruption.

In response, Danmallam appreciated the EFCC’s efforts and pledged that the recovered funds would be used for the benefit of Niger State citizens.
