Berom youths warn Muslim group over safety of Rev Dachomo

The Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) has issued a strong warning to a Muslim group regarding the safety of Rev. Dachomo, a prominent cleric and community leader in Plateau State.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the youth body condemned recent threats allegedly directed at Rev. Dachomo by a faction of Muslim leaders in the state. The BYM described the threats as “provocative, dangerous, and capable of igniting unnecessary tension” in the region.

The group’s president, Barr. Rwang Tengwong, said the association would not tolerate any form of intimidation or harm targeted at the cleric, whom he described as a man of peace and truth. He called on security agencies to take proactive measures to ensure the safety of the pastor and prevent any breakdown of law and order.

Tengwong emphasized that Plateau State has suffered too much from religious and ethnic crises and cannot afford another round of violence. “We have lost too many lives already. Rev. Dachomo stands for unity and justice, and anyone plotting against him is plotting against peace,” he said.

The youth group urged religious leaders across the state to preach tolerance and mutual respect instead of incitement. They also called on the Plateau State Government to investigate the alleged threats and hold those responsible accountable.

The statement further warned that any attempt to harm Rev. Dachomo would be met with a strong reaction from the Berom people, who view him as a symbol of their struggle for justice and equity.
