EEDC begins free prepaid metre rollout

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has officially started the rollout of free prepaid electricity meters to its customers. This initiative is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to improve power distribution, enhance billing transparency, and ensure accurate electricity consumption tracking.

According to EEDC officials, the free prepaid meters will help reduce estimated billing disputes, promote energy efficiency, and empower consumers to manage their electricity usage effectively. The rollout will cover residential, commercial, and industrial customers across EEDC’s service areas.

Customers are advised to register and verify their accounts with EEDC to be eligible for the free meters. The company has reassured the public that the distribution process will be transparent and conducted in phases to reach as many users as possible.

This initiative aligns with Nigeria’s broader electricity sector reforms aimed at providing reliable power supply and improving service delivery across the country.
