The Osun State House of Assembly has passed two important bills designed to improve social and agricultural systems in the state. The bills focus on setting rules for marriage registration and strengthening irrigation systems to support farming and food production.
According to lawmakers, the marriage regulation bill aims to create a clear legal structure for registering marriages, protecting couples’ rights, and ensuring proper documentation. The new law is expected to reduce illegal or unrecognized marriages and improve record-keeping.
The irrigation bill, on the other hand, seeks to boost agriculture by improving access to water for farmers. With this, the state hopes to encourage large-scale farming, reduce dependence on rainfall, and support food security efforts across communities.
Speaker of the Assembly emphasized that these laws are part of ongoing reforms to modernize the state’s legal and agricultural framework. He added that the government remains committed to supporting families and farmers to grow the economy.
Residents and stakeholders have welcomed the development, saying the new laws will help strengthen social institutions, expand farming opportunities, and promote sustainable development in Osun State.
