NDLEA nabs female suspect with live ammunition in Zamfara

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a female suspect in Zamfara State after she was found in possession of live ammunition. The arrest took place during a security operation aimed at curbing crime and illegal arms movement in the North-West region. Officers intercepted the woman after receiving intelligence reports about suspicious activity in the area.

According to NDLEA officials, the suspect was found carrying the ammunition concealed in her belongings. Authorities said the arrest highlights growing concerns about illegal weapons circulating in the region, often linked to banditry and other violent crimes. The NDLEA emphasized that its operations are not only focused on drugs, but also on weapons that threaten national security.

Security personnel have already begun further investigation to uncover the source of the ammunition and determine if the suspect is linked to criminal groups. Officials hinted that more arrests may follow as they continue to track individuals involved in weapons supply chains. The agency assured the public that it will not relent in its fight against all forms of criminal activities.

Residents in Zamfara and surrounding states have expressed concern over rising insecurity, and many welcomed the arrest as a positive step. They urged security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering and surveillance to stop illegal arms before they reach violent criminals. Community leaders also appealed for more support from citizens through timely reporting of suspicious activity.

The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to working with other security agencies to protect lives and property. The agency urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement efforts. With insecurity still a major challenge in northern communities, authorities say every arrest helps dismantle criminal networks and strengthens national security.
