The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for what it described as “mindless and unpatriotic” comments regarding former U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of possible military action in Nigeria. The ruling party accused both parties of exploiting the situation for political gain instead of standing with the country in a sensitive moment.
APC spokespersons argued that the statements from ADC and PDP were careless and capable of undermining national security. According to the party, opposition groups should prioritize Nigeria’s unity and sovereignty rather than celebrating or encouraging foreign interference. The APC stressed that no patriot should support threats against the nation, regardless of political differences.
The ruling party further urged Nigerians to remain calm and trust the federal government’s capacity to handle diplomatic issues. It explained that Nigeria has strong international partnerships and institutions that are capable of resolving conflicts through dialogue. The APC insisted that responsible political parties should offer constructive solutions, not create panic or division.
Meanwhile, political observers have noted that the exchange highlights ongoing tensions among Nigeria’s major political parties over national security and foreign relations. The reactions trail Trump’s controversial comment about intervening in Nigeria’s internal affairs, which has sparked debates across the country. Many believe the issue has become another opportunity for political rivalry.
The APC concluded by calling on the opposition to show maturity and patriotism, urging all political actors to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty. It also appealed to citizens to avoid inflammatory remarks online and offline, emphasizing that national stability and unity must come first before politics or party interests.
