The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has raised an alarm over the spread of fake medicinal cannabis in the country. The agency explained that criminals are packaging dangerous substances and selling them as medical cannabis to unsuspecting citizens.
According to the NDLEA, these fake products are harmful and could cause serious health problems because they are not medically approved or tested. The agency urged Nigerians to be careful and avoid buying any cannabis–related product without proper verification.
Officials warned that only authorized pharmaceutical channels are allowed to distribute legitimate medicinal cannabis, especially those used for research or treatment under strict conditions. The NDLEA said it will continue to clamp down on illegal producers and traders selling fake medical marijuana.
The agency also advised the public to report suspicious products and sellers, stressing that protecting public health remains a top priority.
