The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, asking him to choose between supporting Nigeria or “desperation for power.” The party made the comment while reacting to Obi’s statement on Nigeria being placed on the list of Countries of Particular Concern.
Obi had blamed the development on poor leadership and misuse of national resources. But in a statement released by APC spokesperson Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the party accused Obi of always looking for faults instead of supporting the country. Oladejo said Obi’s comments show “bitterness” and “resentment,” adding that true leadership requires calmness and maturity.
The APC insisted that no nation grows through what it called “politics of complaining and drama.” According to the party, Nigerians rejected Obi because they want leaders who bring solutions and not panic. It noted that the country will continue to rise despite those “hoping for failure.”
Oladejo urged Nigerians to remain committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and ignore people who benefit from national challenges. He stressed that Nigeria’s progress will not be stopped by negative voices.
The statement concluded that the country will succeed with or without critics, calling on the public to stay hopeful and united.
