EPL: David Raya ignores Arteta, names coach behind Arsenal’s success this season

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has revealed a surprising name behind the club’s success this season — and it’s not head coach Mikel Arteta. Instead, Raya praised former Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze, who joined Arsenal’s coaching team over the summer, saying his influence has made a big difference.

The Gunners have been in brilliant form, losing only once and drawing once in the Premier League this season. Their only defeat came against Liverpool at Anfield, and they settled for a draw with Manchester City earlier in the campaign. Since then, Arsenal have gone on a strong winning streak, climbing to the top of the table following recent slip-ups by rivals Liverpool and City.

A major part of Arsenal’s success has been their solid defense. The north London side has let in just three goals across 10 league matches — the best defensive record in the league so far. Raya believes that Heinze’s tough mentality and demand for intensity have helped strengthen the team’s performance at the back. He described the Argentine coach as someone who pushes players to fight harder and remain focused in every match.

“To win games in this league, you must defend very well,” Raya said after Arsenal’s recent victory over Burnley. “Games here are usually decided by one goal, so being solid is key. It’s not only the defenders — every player contributes. A lot of credit goes to Heinze.” His comments show how much impact the former United star has had on the team’s mentality and defensive structure.

Arsenal will now turn their attention to Europe as they travel to the Fortuna Arena to face Slavia Prague in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. With confidence high and momentum behind them, the Gunners hope to continue their winning form on the continental stage.
