Former Manchester United star Dimitar Berbatov has shared strong advice for Benjamin Sesko, urging the young striker to show more emotion and authority on the field. Sesko joined Manchester United this summer for £74 million from RB Leipzig but is still trying to make a major impact under manager Ruben Amorim.
According to Berbatov, Sesko needs to be more demanding and confident if he wants to succeed at Old Trafford. Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, the former Bulgarian striker said that Sesko should not be afraid to ask for the ball and let his teammates know when he makes good runs.
Berbatov explained that a top striker must be bold and sometimes even arrogant in a positive way. He encouraged Sesko to communicate strongly whenever he feels his teammates are not giving him the ball when needed. “Respect my run,” he said, adding that the forward should remind others that he is in the team to score goals.
He stressed that showing anger at the right time is part of being a top striker. Berbatov believes that Sesko must express his desire to score and help the team by demanding more trust and passes from his teammates.
Berbatov concluded that while Sesko should not be aggressive all the time, he also cannot always be too friendly or polite on the pitch. Sometimes, showing passion and frustration is necessary to succeed at a club like Manchester United.
