The General Overseer of Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly, Bishop David Abioye, has strongly criticised Nigerian leaders for denying what he described as a Christian genocide happening across the country.
Speaking during a sermon to his congregation, Bishop Abioye lamented that people are “being buried in hundreds” while leaders continue to dismiss reports of targeted attacks against Christians. His comments follow ongoing debates over claims that thousands of Christians have been killed in Nigeria in recent years.
According to reports, some U.S. lawmakers and religious freedom advocates have alleged that over 30 Christians are killed daily in Nigeria, calling for the country to be designated as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC). They also accused Islamic extremists of destroying several churches. However, the Federal Government has denied these allegations, insisting that the security challenges are not religiously motivated.
Bishop Abioye, however, rejected that explanation, saying facts on the ground prove otherwise. “Information with facts can’t be thwarted. You see people being buried in hundreds and you said there is no genocide? What a wicked set of people!” he said.
He further claimed that the attacks are spreading beyond the northern regions, warning that the crisis is now “eating down to the South.” Abioye accused some leaders of ignoring the truth for personal and political gains, calling their silence a betrayal of conscience.
