NPF present cash assistance to families of slain officers in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has handed over 59 cheques totaling N31,450,025.16 to families of police officers who died in the line of duty. The gesture was part of the ongoing welfare initiatives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, under the Group Life Assurance (GLA) and IGP Family Welfare Scheme.

CP Dahiru Muhammad, presenting the cheques, described the officers as “heroes who laid down their lives in defense of peace, justice, and the unity of the nation.” He emphasized that their sacrifices would never be forgotten and assured that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) remains committed to supporting the welfare of officers’ families.

The Commissioner of Police urged the beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly to benefit their families and dependents. He highlighted that the welfare of personnel and their families is a top priority for the NPF, which continues to uphold discipline, accountability, and support for both serving and retired officers.

Speaking on behalf of the families, Mr. Surajo Shehu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Jigawa State Commissioner of Police for their dedication and compassion. He pledged that the financial support would be utilized meaningfully to honor the memory and legacy of the fallen officers.

The ceremony reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to providing moral and financial support to families of officers who sacrifice their lives in service to the nation, strengthening trust and morale within the force.
