President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday held a closed-door meeting with the newly appointed service chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting comes just days after the President announced major changes in Nigeria’s military leadership.
According to the Presidency, the appointments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s security architecture and improve coordination among the armed forces. The shake-up reflects Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring a more responsive and efficient defense system in tackling insecurity across the country.
The President had on Friday named General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa. Other top positions in the Army, Navy, and Air Force were also restructured as part of the reforms.
Security analysts say the meeting signifies the beginning of a new phase in Nigeria’s security strategy, focusing on synergy, intelligence-sharing, and operational discipline. The newly appointed officers are expected to brief the President on their immediate plans to restore stability and confidence across volatile regions.
Tinubu’s latest move has been widely viewed as a strategic step toward achieving his administration’s goal of a safer and more secure Nigeria through capable and accountable military leadership.
