Football commentator Serhat Akın has cautioned Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi to improve his performance, saying Victor Osimhen has set a new standard at the club. Akın made the statement while analysing Galatasaray’s attacking options, noting that the competition between both players is drawing attention from fans and analysts alike.

According to Akın, while Icardi remains a top-class striker, Osimhen’s energy, style, and consistency have raised the bar significantly. He warned that if Icardi does not raise his performance level soon, he might lose the affection of the Galatasaray supporters who once adored him. “There’s a game between Osimhen and Icardi, and these two are very different,” Akın was quoted as saying by Habersarikirmizi.

He described Osimhen as a “fantastic centre-forward” who brings intensity and inspiration to the team. Akın further explained that the Nigerian striker’s impact has changed expectations within the club, and Icardi must respond to maintain his standing both on and off the pitch.

“Galatasaray fans love Icardi, and even children in Türkiye admire him,” Akın said. “But if this situation continues and he doesn’t improve, that love could fade. Osimhen has set the bar very high, and Icardi needs to catch up fast.”
