The Yobe State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Abdulmumini Garba, the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Karasuwa Local Government Area, over the alleged killing of a 45-year-old woman, identified as Falmata Abubakar. The tragic incident occurred near the Federal University, Gashua, and has since caused widespread shock across the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, Garba’s arrest followed a thorough investigation and sustained intelligence efforts by officers of the Bade Division. The suspect, who also serves as the Secretary of the Vegetables Market (Kasuwan Gwari) in Gashua, allegedly confessed to conveying the deceased in his vehicle before an argument broke out between them over her request for financial support.

Police reports revealed that the altercation tragically led to Falmata’s death inside the vehicle. The State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, commended the DPO and his team for their professionalism and vowed that the case would be prosecuted to ensure justice is served.

The shocking incident has drawn public attention, with many calling for a transparent investigation and strict punishment if the suspect is found guilty. The late Falmata, a food vendor in Gashua, was said to be well-known in the community, and her death has left many residents heartbroken.

The Yobe Police Command reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and ensuring that those involved in criminal activities face the full weight of the law. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, as the suspect remains in police custody.
