UCL: What Gyokeres told Thierry Henry after scoring as Arsenal beat Atletico 4-0

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres expressed his joy after ending his goal drought in the club’s 4–0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night. Speaking to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry on CBS Sports, the Swedish forward said there are “a lot of goals” in Arsenal’s iconic number 14 shirt, famously worn by Henry himself.

After a goalless first half at the Emirates, Arsenal came alive in the second half. Gabriel Magalhães opened the scoring in the 57th minute, followed by Gabriel Martinelli who doubled the lead. Gyokeres then sealed the win with two quick goals, ending his nine-game drought for both club and country.

Speaking after the match, Gyokeres said, “It feels great, to be honest. There’s a lot of goals in this shirt. It feels amazing.” He added that wearing the number 14 was a huge honour given its legacy. “There weren’t many shirt numbers available, but when 14 came up, it was special. It’s a big honour,” he said.

The striker also emphasized his commitment to helping Arsenal win trophies. “We want to win trophies, that’s our goal, and I want to do my part by scoring goals and helping the team,” Gyokeres told Henry.

Gyokeres’ performance delighted Arsenal fans, who have been waiting for him to rediscover his scoring form. His brace not only boosted his confidence but also strengthened Arsenal’s push in the Champions League campaign this season.
