A nurse identified as Hadiza Musa, serving as the deputy head of the maternity unit at Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Kofar Gayan, Zaria, has been tragically killed by suspected phone snatchers while returning home from work.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday near Filin Mallawa, Tudun Wada, Zaria, when Hadiza was attacked by men riding in a tricycle. Reports suggest the assailants hit her on the head while trying to steal her phone.
Her husband, Hamza Ibrahim Idris, who works in Abuja, said his wife had earlier called to inform him she was heading to a salon and an Islamic chemist before returning home. “That was our last conversation. I tried calling her afterward, but her phone was unreachable,” he recounted with grief.
According to him, bruises were found on her hands, indicating she tried to resist the attackers. Her body was later discovered by the roadside near Mallawa Eid Ground and was rushed to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, where doctors confirmed her death.
As of the time of this report, the police have not released an official statement regarding the incident. Residents of the area have expressed shock and fear, calling on security agencies to intensify patrols and bring the culprits to justice.
