The Abia State government has strongly denied reports suggesting that Governor Alex Otti has defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC). These rumors gained traction after a photo surfaced showing Governor Otti visiting Governor Peter Mbah just days before Mbah officially joined the APC.
Some social media users speculated that the visit was a prelude to Otti’s alleged move to the ruling party. However, the state government insists that these claims are unfounded and politically motivated. The Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, described the news as “fabrications by political propagandists” aimed at misleading the public.
Governor Otti, according to the government, remains fully committed to the Labour Party. He continues to focus on his administration’s agenda, which includes rebuilding Abia State, promoting transparency, and ensuring that citizens enjoy the benefits of good governance.
The Commissioner urged the public not to be distracted by false reports, emphasizing that Otti’s loyalty to the Labour Party is unwavering. He stressed that the governor’s priority remains the development and progress of Abia State.
As political rumors continue to circulate online, the Abia State government calls on citizens to treat such news with caution and reject any attempt to distort the truth for political gain.
