I’m too big to secretly defect to APC — Suswam

Former Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, has dismissed rumours claiming he secretly defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking on Sunday during a visit to Prof Saasongo Nongu’s residence in Makurdi, Suswam described the reports as false and disrespectful to his political stature.

According to the former governor, it would be an act of betrayal to his loyal supporters if he were to leave the ADC without proper consultation. “I am too big to dump the ADC in secret. Leaving the party quietly would be the height of disgrace to my personality and a betrayal to my loyalists,” Suswam stated, emphasizing his continued commitment to the ADC’s vision.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the ADC, stressing that his focus remains on strengthening the party’s presence across Benue State and beyond. Suswam called on party members to unite and support Mzondu, whom he described as a dependable and visionary leader dedicated to advancing the ideals of the ADC.

In response, Mzondu expressed gratitude to Suswam for his mentorship and guidance, describing him as a political father and a leader who has continued to inspire many within the party. He assured that he remains loyal to Suswam and the ADC’s mission.

Suswam’s remarks come amid a wave of political realignments in Benue State, but he made it clear that he has no intention of abandoning the ADC, reaffirming his place as one of its strongest pillars in the region.
