My father disowned me – Goodgirl LA

Nigerian singer Euphemia Ekumah, better known as GoodGirl LA, has revealed the emotional struggles she faced while trying to pursue her passion for music against her family’s wishes. The “Early Momo” hitmaker said her father once disowned and evicted her from home after she refused to continue her education.

In a recent interview with Hip TV, GoodGirl LA explained that she never wanted to attend university but was forced to write JAMB by her father. She said she regretted ever going to school, wishing instead that she had left home earlier to chase her dreams.

“I have never regretted not completing school. I wish I never went to school. I wish I left home earlier. That’s my only regret,” she said. “I wish I never wrote JAMB. I wish I ran away when my dad was forcing me to write JAMB. When I told my parents that I wasn’t interested in school anymore, my dad asked me to leave his house. At one point, he even disowned me.”

GoodGirl LA added that she eventually left home at 17, determined to build her music career despite her family’s disapproval. Over time, her success and recognition in the entertainment industry helped mend her relationship with her family.

The singer’s story reflects the struggles many young creatives face in balancing parental expectations with their passion. Today, GoodGirl LA is celebrated as one of Nigeria’s fast-rising female artists, inspiring others to stay true to their dreams.
