Lagos Demolitions: Law, Justice, And Compassion – Peter Obi

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has shared his thoughts on the ongoing demolitions in parts of Lagos State, calling for a balance between the enforcement of law and the need for compassion.

Obi emphasized that while it is important to uphold urban development regulations, such actions should not ignore the human impact on families and individuals who lose their homes and livelihoods. He said government policies should reflect fairness and empathy, especially when dealing with ordinary citizens already struggling with economic hardship.

The former Anambra governor urged authorities to find humane alternatives before carrying out demolitions, noting that leadership should focus on building people, not just structures. According to him, true governance lies in ensuring that justice and compassion guide all government decisions.

Obi’s remarks have sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians agreeing that development must not come at the expense of citizens’ welfare.
