Why Cooking Gas Price Is Increasing – NNPC Boss

The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari, has explained the recent rise in the price of cooking gas across the country. According to him, the surge is mainly due to high global market prices, foreign exchange challenges, and the increased cost of transporting gas within Nigeria. Kyari assured Nigerians that the NNPC is working with other stakeholders to stabilize the market and make gas more affordable.

He noted that the NNPC is increasing local gas production and improving infrastructure to reduce dependence on imported liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Kyari emphasized that once domestic supply strengthens, the price of cooking gas will begin to drop, bringing relief to households.

The NNPC boss urged Nigerians to be patient, stating that the company remains committed to ensuring stable energy supply and promoting the use of cleaner cooking fuels across the nation.
