Tragedy struck in Ogun State on Friday when a Dangote truck collided with a commercial tricycle, killing five people instantly. The crash occurred along the Ilaro–Oja Odan Road in Yewa South Local Government Area, leaving passersby and residents in shock. Eyewitnesses said the truck driver lost control due to brake failure and rammed into the tricycle, which was conveying passengers to a nearby market.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived promptly to evacuate the victims and clear the wreckage to ease traffic congestion. According to the FRSC spokesperson, the accident involved a Dangote truck loaded with cement and a tricycle carrying six passengers. Five people died on the spot, while one person sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Residents of the area have called on the state government to enforce stricter road safety measures, especially for heavy-duty trucks that often use the route. They also appealed for better road maintenance and the installation of speed breakers to prevent future tragedies. The FRSC urged drivers to ensure regular vehicle checks and adhere strictly to traffic regulations.
